At ConAgra Foods, we know that food brings enjoyment to our lives and that our overall diet plays an important role in keeping us healthy. Our approach to nutrition and health is practical, realistic and focused on three broad areas: portion and calorie control, dietary variety, and heart health. Over the past five years, the majority of the new foods we have begun to make fit into one or more of these three areas.

Portion and Calorie Control
Enjoy the food you love and eat a little less by practicing portion control. Health authorities agree that one of the best things you can do to eat well is be aware of the calorie-balance equation — that is, the balance between calories consumed and calories expended. Achieving and maintaining a healthier body weight not only makes life’s daily activities easier, but it also decreases the risk for heart disease, certain cancers, diabetes and other health conditions.
Practicing portion control and understanding how many calories are in foods are proven ways to help manage body weight. That's why we make a wide range of foods with right-sized portions and a reasonable number of calories per serving. In fact, we make more than 400 varieties of foods that can make it easier for you to manage your calorie intake while enjoying the food you love.
To make portion and calorie control easier during mealtime, we make about 200 meals and entrées with no more than 450 calories. You can choose a wide variety of foods from the brands you love, including Healthy Choice®, Banquet®, Marie Callender's®, Kid Cuisine® and Chef Boyardee®. For snack time, we make more than 100 portion-controlled foods with no more than 150 calories. Whether you love sweet or savory, you can choose a right-sized, single-serving portion from a variety of brands, including Snack Pack®, Swiss Miss®, Slim Jim® and Andy Capp's®.

Dietary Variety
Having a lot of variety in your diet, including foods from all of the food groups, is a fundamental principle of eating well. Many people come up a little short when it comes to having this type of balance in their overall diet, because they should include more whole grains, vegetables, legumes, and nuts and seeds. That’s why we make more than 300 foods that are great-tasting and convenient ways to add more variety to your diet.
Many people don’t realize that popcorn is a whole grain. We make dozens of different flavor varieties of whole-grain popcorn under our Orville Redenbacher’s® and ACT II® brands. Hunt’s® tomatoes, including diced, whole, and stewed tomatoes, or tomato puree, sauce, and paste, make it convenient to add more vegetables to your diet all year long. Other foods we make to help bring more variety to your diet include Van Camp’s®, Rosarita® and Ranch Style® Beans; DAVID® sunflower seeds; Peter Pan® Peanut Butter; RO*TEL® Tomatoes & Green Chilies; Alexia® potato, sweet potato and vegetable side dishes; and Lightlife™ soy-based vegetarian burgers, hot dogs, meals and entrées.
