"Choose to Lose": A little bit really can go a long way
Calorie and portion control aren't just part of the process when we make the food you love. That's how ConAgra Foods® employees reached a major milestone, losing more than 10,000 pounds since our "Choose to Lose" program started. The wellness program was launched in 2009 to help employees and their spouses and partners reach a healthier body weight using portion control and calorie balance, principles that are also key in our product innovation process. Let's hear it for our families who got healthy in 2014!
Serving up quality since 1948
It was a simpler time when Marie Callender started serving up her signature dishes—beloved classics with made-from-scratch touches that drew loved ones in.
After almost 70 years, Marie Callender's® still believes in the power of a good meal to nurture everyone at the table. That's why we stay committed to using wholesome, high-quality ingredients, from our premium cuts of meat to the hand-stretched lattice crust on our apple pies.
And that may be why, after that first pie and coffee shop opened its doors, Marie Callender's still creates legendary meals that folks love to take time to savor.
"You can always depend on Hunt's."
For generations, California farmers have tended the fields, cultivating the most delicious tomatoes for Hunt's — just ask Jason Polder. "I'm following in the footsteps of my father, who followed in the footsteps of his father," says Polder, who for years has harvested tomatoes for Hunt's diced, stewed and whole varieties.
Polder farms tomatoes in sunny Oakdale, Ca. With at least eight hours of sunlight each day on the plants, it's the perfect climate to raise tomatoes for optimal sweetness. Each season, the tomatoes are picked at the peak of ripeness and delivered to the cannery in a matter of hours. So you get 100% natural flavor, with no artificial preservatives.
Employee Month of Service hours top 8,000
Numbers don't lie—and these numbers tell a story of commitment to community that ConAgra Foods employees are known for. This year, as a part of our 2015 Month of Service, more than 3,000 employees at 42 different locations donated more than 8,000 service hours. During that time, we:
- Packed 1 million meals at the Kids Against Hunger events
- Filled backpacks, planted trees, and tilled in community gardens
- Sorted canned goods, served hot meals and more
Our employees continue to be generous with their time and connected to our communities. Just like making the food people love, service is part of who we are and what we do.
Start with a code. Help end child hunger.
More than one in five children and more than one in four Latino children in the U.S. don't know where their next meal is coming from. Many are shocked by the numbers and want to be part of the solution. But where to begin?
ConAgra Foods and the ConAgra Foods Foundation have been working on solutions for more than 20 years, and now, working with Feeding America®, we are making it easy for you to take that first step.
How can you help? It's simple — just look for participating ConAgra Foods brands with the red pushpin and enter the 8-digit code online. Helping end child hunger in America starts with a code. 1 Code = 1 Meal* to Feeding America.
* For every 8-digit code from participating products entered by 1/7/16, ConAgra Foods will donate 10¢, the cost for Feeding America to provide one meal through its network of local food banks. Maximum: 3 million meals. Guaranteed minimum donation: 1.5 million meals ($150,000). Limit 5 code entries per person/computer each day. Valid in the United States only.
2015 Sustainability Awards: innovation for the environment
The results are in, and through our 82 most recent Sustainable Development projects, ConAgra Foods has been able to:
- Conserve 97 million gallons of water
- Optimize packaging to save 15 million pounds of material, and
- Eliminate 58,700 tons of waste
For over twenty years, this internal awards program challenges ConAgra Foods employees to find ways to trim waste, save water and reduce energy through innovation and engagement. This year, collectively, the projects delivered more than $70 million in savings, showing the bottom-line benefits of our commitment to sustainable development.
